Guidelines and Rules

The Competition is for digitally-produced Audio Visual sequences with a sound-track, and has two categories:

‘Open’: The choice is completely up to the author, and must be no longer than 12 minutes.

‘Music, Poetry, Song’: The sequence will clearly illustrate a piece of Music, a Poem or a Song.  This may be creative or strongly representative and will be no longer than 8 minutes.

AI generated sequences are not accepted in this salon in accordance with FIAP and PAGB rules.

All entries will be judged; however, time may not allow all the sequences to be shown at the Public Show.

There will be a LIVE Gala Showing at Woodbury Village Hall on the 13th of June 2026

General Rules:

1. Entries are welcome from groups, clubs and individuals.

2. Each Entry must be accompanied by

a. an Entry Form/Fiche, with a summary in one of the Official FIAP languages (English or French)

b. a poster (1920 x 1080px jpg) for each entry. Please note this is mandatory.

c. a portrait of the entrant (600 x 800px jpg),

d. a Proof of Payment receipt (PayPal or Bank Transfer).

3. Each entrant may enter one or two Sequences; these may be any combination of MPS (Music, Poetry, Song) or Open Categories.

4. A named Co-author/collaborator cannot be entered on more than two sequences.

5. The entry fees are £15 (for one entry) or £20 (for two entries)

6. Each ‘Open’ entry must be no longer than 12 minutes.

7. Each ‘MPS’, (Music, Poetry or Song), entry must be no longer than 8 minutes.

8. All entries are to be submitted as MP4 format video files only.

9. The organisers reserve the right to refuse to accept any Entry which they consider to be undesirable or unsuitable.

10. It is the entrant’s own responsibility to ensure that any material recorded on the soundtrack or shown images, is appropriately covered against copyright infringement. The exhibition assumes no liability for any misuse of copyright by the entrant.

11. All sequences will initially be scanned by a commercially available antivirus program. If any problems are encountered the entrant will be contacted to resolve the matter. It will be at the organiser’s discretion to withdraw a sequence if no solution can be found, or if the entrant cannot be contacted.

12. Age Limit: Entries must have been made within 3 (three) years prior to the closing date.

Collaboration: Authors can only submit two entries, either as sole entrants or co-authors

The submission of an Entry Form/Fiche implies the acceptance of all these ‘Rules and Conditions of entry’.

NOTE: AI use : No computer generated pictorial images to be used in your sequence. The key principle is that all photographic elements in an image must be photographed by the author - e.g. a sky can be replaced for another one also photographed by the author, but not one created by AI or downloaded from another source. AI can be used to sharpen, to cut out and assist with cloning and any other editing that does not include something not included in the original image or composite.

Entries that have been ENTERED in a previous Jurassic Coast International AV Salon are not eligible for entry.

Rules for the ‘Music, Poetry, Song’ section:

1. Music, Poetry, Song: The sequence will clearly illustrate a piece of Music, a Poem or a Song. This may be creative or strongly representational, and will be no longer than 8 minutes.

2. Production of all sequences must be the original photographic work of the entrant, co-author(s) and collaborators.

3. Spoken commentary is not allowed, except in the case of a poem being narrated, and any text should be minimal.

Rules for the 'Open' section

4. This Section is an Open competition and the choice of subject is entirely at the author’s discretion.

5. Spoken commentary and text are permissible. Video clips may be included but should not dominate the AV. Decisions on this are at the discretion of the organisers.
