Devon Photographic Clubs' Print & Digital Battle 2014

This year the Battle was hosted by Ivybridge and held at Rattery Village Hall, which was an excellent venue with plenty of space and car parking. We set up our Print Panel called Night Visitor in the morning and there were 8 other print panels on display from various clubs around the area. I have taken a quick shot of each panel to give you some idea of the different type of entries there were, unfortunately the lighting wasn't that brilliant and there were loads of highlights on the images, so apologies for the poor quality.

The judge was John Tilsley who I thought did a very good job, he was well aware of a good panel and felt that as it was a panel competition (prints only) this aspect should be considered. He felt the panel should have a theme, hang together well and have a good presentation.

Tophies were given to the Best Panel, Best Digital Set, Best Overall Print Winner and Best Overall Digital Image. Certificates were given to 2nd and 3rd places in the same sections. We unfortunately were not placed in the Print Panels but we did better with our digital images. More clubs entered the digital section so we were up against quite a number, 15 I think. We came 7th.

The Print Panel Winner was Zen with their panel called On The Beach and the Winner of the Digital set were Exeter Camera Club but only by half a point, Zen were second. John Perriam got second place for his print "Apparition" in our Print Panel and I got the overall best Digital Image called Three in a Row, see images below. Pam Sherren got the Best Overall Print from the Zen Panel.

We entered Night Visitor (which this time we called Visitation) into the WCPF Kingswood Salver 15 November 2014. There were 23 panels entered from over the region, the good news being that the judge Colin Harrison FRPS, FIPF,FBPE, MFIAP, MPAGB, EFIAP/G and PPSA awarded our panel Third Place and John Perriam was awarded yet again an award, he had Highly Commended for his Apparition print.

We, Exmouth Photo Group have taken on the task of hosting next year's Battle which is to be held on 16 May 2015 to be held at Clyst St Mary Village Hall so no excuses for not attending and help will definitely be required on the day.
