Wednesday February 11th Members Evening Derrick Holiday ARPS AV- AFIAP and Jenny Baker ARPS DAPGB/ AV

The scheduled speaker for the evening was unable to attend, but fortunately Derrick and Jenny kindly agreed to step in at the last minute. They gave us marvellous presentation highlighting their excellent work in still photography and AV productions.

Derrick and Jenny began by sharing the photographic awards they have received since joining the club 15 years ago, and they expressed their gratitude to fellow members for the encouragement and inspiration that contributed to their success.

Their presentation featured a selection of memorable AV’s. These included “Tommy “ a poignant reflection on the horrors of war, the Swannery at Abbotsbury, the humorous “Binder String” Hares Tale” created especially for children, “Bones” a music challenge  featuring the car scrapyard at Woodbury, and “MO pop” which explored Seattle’s museum of Pop culture and its fusion of textures, colours and shapes.

Derrick and Jenny also shared a diverse range of captivating photographs taken during their travels  to S Africa, Northumberland, and Norfolk. We enjoyed stunning images of animals, birds and plants at the Mabula Game Reserve in S Africa, colourful stones and pebbles at Spittle beach, drone shots of the Angel of the North, Belhaven bridge in Berwick on Tweed, puffins, guillemots razorbills and gannets in the Farne Islands and Brampton cliffs, scenes from the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, and seals at Horsey Gap in Norfolk.

Many thanks to Derrick and Jenny for providing such an enjoyable evening, and for all they have done for the club. They will be greatly missed, and we wish them all the best as they settle into their new home in Somerset.
