Wednesday 30th September 2026:

Members Evening with John Perriam ARPS, DPAGB, AFIAP

Our President, John Perriam, gave members an enjoyable and informative evening showing his images taken since last October, 2025. John has certainly been busy with the range of topics and collection of images including, amongst others, street photography. His explanation of his technique to achieve these pictures was most interesting.

Other images were of the Devon County Show, wildlife, and action shots of bikers and scooters in Phear Park capturing the speed and skills of the riders.

It was also entertaining to see the shots of the previous week’s practical evening where, judging by the concentration shown, a lot was learnt.

Of great interest were John’s abstract photographs and he explained how these were taken with the amazing colours and angles produced on such everyday items as a fork and a dandelion seed.

John suggested that the website produced by Angie Wallace on creative photography would be worth studying.

16th September was a Show & Tell evening.

This was a delightful and interesting evening, chaired by Ian Bateman, who had linked up the large TV screen at our new venue in the Town Hall to the laptop enabling the good number of members present to view the pictures to be shown.

Nineteen members had submitted eight of their favourite photographs which were all of exceptional quality covering various topics, ranging from architecture, wildlife, exotic holidays abroad and interestingly infra red photographs. The photographers gave a brief informative talk about each of their pictures.

Mo reported that she has booked the Maltster’s pub in Woodbury for the Christmas meal on the 16th December and would let people have further details at a later date.

Best wishes were passed on to Christine who is still isolating and recovering from a nasty bout of shingles.

Chris is a proclaimed photographer, and a judge with Western Counties Photographic Society.

The evening consisted of an in depth incite into Chris's life in the Navy and life on a submarine.
