Devon Clubs' Print and Digitally Projected Battle May 2008
We hosted the Devon Clubs' Photographic Battle on Saturday 17th May at the Public Hall, Budleigh Salterton. The event went very well, over 100 people attended. There were no hicups and it ran very smoothly with thanks to the helpers of Exmouth Photo Group. 13 Clubs from Devon entered the Battle and the standard was very high. The day started at 11 a.m. with the "helpers" setting up the Hall and preparing the buffet for the evening. Representatives of the entering clubs arrived at 12.30 to set up their boards and there was a short meeting held to discuss the future of this particular event. Nigel Cheffers Heard, the judge, arrived around 2 p.m. to critique all the prints and projected images.
Fotospeed came along and set up a stand ready for when the doors opened at 4.30. I have since heard from John and Jan Herlinger and they were very pleased and in their own words " It was such a great day at Budleigh Salterton last Saturday – we really enjoyed being there.Fotospeed would like to make a proposal to all the Camera Clubs which would both a benefit all club members and make a financial contribution to the club itself."
Judging started at 6 p.m. and Nigel gave an excellent analysis of all the Print Panels interspersed with his witticisms. After half time when members partook of the excellent buffet Nigel continued with the Slides and Digital images. It was then time for the raffle and presentations.
