South Devon League Digital & Print Battle

Season 2012 to 2013

The South Devon League Battles are between Dawlish & Teignmouth, Newton Abbot, Crediton and ourselves. We have two battles a season, the Print Battle in either November or December and the Digital Battle sometime in the spring. Each club enters 15 prints and 15 digital images for each of the competitions. We are not allowed more than 2 images from the same photographer.

Below are images entered into the Digital Battle in March 2013. The judge, Brian Galbraith, gave an excellent critique of all the images and, despite some mixed revues, we were slowly catching Crediton. At the end of the evening the dpi scores were Newton Abbott 211, Exmouth 183, Dawlish 179 and Crediton 174. This meant that the final positions were: Newton Abbott 1st with 467 points, Exmouth 2nd with 402, Crediton 3rd with 400 and Dawlish and Teignmouth 4th with 388.

Our top scoring images were ‘A Winter Walk to Work’ by Carol Hyett and Sheila Haycox’s ‘Gateshead Bridges’ both with 15 points; Teresa Brown with 16 points for her ‘Strictly Morris’ and congratulations to John Wickett whose ‘Ladram Stack’ scored 17 points and was one of the top 5 images.

Unfortunately I do not have digital copies of the print entry that were entered in the November 2012 battle. Mo Martin got 3rd place with her print Face Reflection in the Print Battle and more details are in our Newsletter 2012
